Kristie Nunn

Cam Newton, QB Auburn

Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson

Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
On Thursday, April 28th,New York City's Radio City Music Hall will host the 2011 NFL Draft. Like in years past, the most popular question surrounding The Buffalo Bills right now, is who they should take with the third overall pick in the draft.
With names like Da'Quan Bowers (defensive end, Clemson), Cam Newton (quarterback, Auburn), Nick Fairley (defensive tackle), A.J. Green (wide receiver, Georgia) and Blaine Gabbert (quarterback, Missouri) many Bills fans are hoping one of these men will be the face of the franchise for years to come. Its hard to ignore the fact that the Bills need some help on the defensive side of the football, finishing dead last in the league last year in rushing yards allowed; 27th in sacks; 28th in scoring defense and 24th in total defense. Buffalo lacked a true pass-rushing outside linebacker in their 3-4 scheme and failed to put consistent pressure on the opposing teams' quarterbacks.
On the flip side, the Bills have some up and coming talent in the wide receiver position. Stevie Johnson, Donald Jones, and Naamen Rossevlet have quickly developed into a reliable core of receivers. The Bills also have a healthy Lee Evans, and Roscoe Parrish coming back off of injuries. Although, Ryan Fitzpatrick had the best statistical year of any Bills quarterback since the arrival of Drew Bledsoe from New England. Fitzpatrick kept the Bills in most games last season and showed the ability to move around in the pocket and get rid of the ball quickly. His decision making was questionable, throwing some costly interceptions that cost the team a chance at winning games. Fitzpatrick is a good stopgap quarterback but the team needs to find its quarterback of the future, Cam Newton could very well be that guy. Cam threw for 2,854 yards and 30 touchdowns with Auburn last season, leading them to the BSC National Championship game in which they defeated Oregon, 22-19.
If the football Gods are looking out for the Bills, 6'4" 280 lb Da'Quan Bowers (DE, Clemson) will fall to the third pick. De'Quan finished last season with 150 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception. The Bills are in need of a DE and many analysts are saying he is a rising star. Bowers in number one in the nation with 15.5 sacks and 26 tackles for losses. Many people are already comparing Bowers to Bills hall of framer Bruce Smith .Bowers has a great size and frame, incredible initial punch, can play a variety of positions across the defensive line, reads plays well, and is a natural pass rusher. If Bower's is available I can't see the Bills passing up on this guy.
The Bills could also take defensive tackle Nick Fairley from Auburn. During the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, Fairley had five tackles, three behind the line of scrimmage, a sack and a forced fumble earning the defensive player of the game award. Fairley is explosive off the snap, and he's always looking for a gap to push through and get to the quarterback or ball carrier. He slants very quickly off blocks in front of him and can push past blockers at an angle. Fairley has the size and disruptive ability to be a very effective three-tech in a four-man front, but he's also stout enough to play straight over center in a three-man or hybrid front, making him a potential franchise player in just about any defense. So Bills fans, who should the Bills draft this year?
